Daredevil Born Again Episode 9 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
One Year Ago: Vanessa is meeting with Bullseye in prison. She is having him released because he wants a favor: kill a thief named Benjamin Gaffaro and his lawyer Foggy Nelson. If the case goes to trial it would shine some unwanted light on her businesses.
Present day: a flashback to the inaugural ball where Bullseye pulls the trigger, aiming for Fisk.
Matt wakes up in the hospital, calling for Karen. Heather is waiting by his side. He learns that Poindexter is still at large. Matt tells Kirsten he knows Vanessa had Foggy killed.
Kingpin knows what Vanessa did.
Matt wants to pull all of Foggy's old files including his motion to dismiss. The problem is it was never filed.
Fisk wants to seal the city to find Bullseye. He talks about Matt succumbing to his wounds– a dead hero is better than a live vigilante.
He then tells Sheila to send everyone who is not completely loyal to him home.
Buck goes to the hospital to “visit” Matt, but Matt knows he is in danger.
Gallo is waiting to talk to Sheila. He wants them to go to the governor with what they know.
A planned power outage allows Buck to sneak into Matt's room. But he already left and went back to his apartment.
Frank is waiting for Matt. He's shaved and cut his hair. Matt is surprised to see him, but Frank says he got a phone call and he promised he would get him out of the apartment alive.
But first he wants to know why Matt took that bullet. He just answers “that's a good question.”
Fisk's Task Force shows up at Matt's apartment, with some wearing the Punisher logo.
Daredevil attacks from the ceiling while Punisher also goes at them. Matt realizes Cole is the one who killed Hector. He doesn't kill him but Frank thinks he should. They start to fight and argue until a grenade is thrown into the mix.
Karen is waiting to pick them. She tells Matt when she saw Poindexter escaped that she called Frank and got on a plane.
At Frank's bunker, Matt tells Karen Vanessa ordered the hit. They go to the storage unit to try and find Foggy's motion to dismiss. Frank isn't worried about Fisk.
Daniel is having a meeting with the city council, threatening them all in order for them to support Fisk's “Safer Streets” initiative which is essentially brute force to make citizens comply with the laws.
Storage unit #266– this is the comic Daredevil spends Christmas with Mephisto. Yes that Mephisto!
Matt asks her about talking to Frank. She says he sounds jealous.
The find Foggy's paperwork: Red Hook charter 1855. Red Hook is a free port, exempt from the jurisdiction of the city/country. By taking control of it, they can launder money legally there. The Fisks are essentially trying to build their own city/state. He wants to know what they are hiding in there.
Frank is listening to the police scanner and learns they are all going to Red Hook. He decides to go too and attacks a bunch of the officers before he is taken hostage.
Sheila has betrayed Gallo to save herself. She plays Fisk a recording of her convo with Gallo from earlier. Gallo knows when he gets in the car he is going to die.
Frank is tied up in a warehouse facing a bunch of “fanboys.” He calls them all clowns.
Gallo is brought to Fisk. He says “I was right, you never stopped being Kingpin.” Kingpin brutally murders Gallo by ripping his skull apart.
Karen doesn't want Matt going into Red Hook alone. He promises her they are going to take the city back, they just need an army.
Kingpin visits Heather and asks her to be his Commissioner of Mental Health. She agrees.
During his address to the city. Kingpin tells everyone he is enacting the Safer Streets Initiative. All vigilante activity is illegal, curfew is at 8pm, and NYC is now under martial law.
Flashback to Matt as a kid in the orphanage, realizing his purpose. Back in the present, Matt puts on the Daredevil mask and goes out to meet with his army– Cherry, Karen, Detective Kim, and some other good cops.
Vanessa and Kingpin walk through Red Hook, past a bunch of different people in cages including Jack and Frank. They sit down to have dinner where Adam's blood splatters are still on the wall behind them.
Buck is watching through a window, Daniel is at the Mayor's desk, and Matt gives a speech to rally his people. Resist- Rebel-Rebuild. We are the city without fear.
