The 2 episode premiere of Skeleton Crew is here! Wim, Neel, Fern, and KB are now hurtling through hyperspace far from home. Time to get some answers and watch out for pirates. Let's get into it with this Skeleton Crew Episode 2 Easter Eggs, breakdown, and recap.
Skeleton Crew Episode 2 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
The Onyx Cinder drops out of hyperspace and they realize that SM-33 is right there with them. SM-33 is looking for the Captain. Fern convinces him that they killed the old captain and she is in charge now.
He knows how to operate the ship and quickly runs down all the technical aspects. KB of course is the only one who really followed what he was saying.
They tell him they want to get back to At Attin but he has never heard of it. He asks if they meant somewhere else:
- Atollon is the home of Bendu (Star Wars Rebels)
- Al Alcor
- Aldhani (he calls it a sulfurous bog) If that sounds familiar it is because that was the planet where Cassian Andor helped plan a raid on an Imperial Base in ANDOR.
SM-33 takes them to a Pirate Starport. Fern hopes they can find someone there to help them.
On At Attin, Safety Droids are looking for what caused the ground to shake. Wendle finds them and tells what happened to the children. The droids repeat that going past The Barrier is a major violation.
Neel and Wim explore the Onyx Cinder. Wim finds the Captain’s quarters and some skeletons who looked like they died in a duel. This was definitely a Pirate Ship.
They arrive at Port Borgo. Borgo is a shadowport (a spaceport for illegal activities). It originated in Star Wars Legends in the book Young Jedi Knights: Shadow Academy by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta. Later it was introduced into canon via the reference book Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide. Maz Kanata had it marked on a map.
SM-33 tells them to trust no one. A woman sees the children and offers to help them. She doesn't believe they are from At Attin. “Oh you’re a couple of linderlings from the lost planet of eternal treasure?”
Wim and Neel sit down and are served a meal by a Frycook. He tells them they need to pay because he isn't running a Kriffing charity. Kriff is an expletive, basically the more naughty version of Karabast.
The pirates in the bar (including Vane) become interested in Wim's money– Old Republic Credits in mint condition.
Vane was a member of Gorian Shard's gang in The Mandalorian before abandoning the crew.
(Note: Skeleton Crew is set in and around other live action Star Wars series including The Mandalorian)
SM-33 appears to save them from the pirates but they are soon overwhelmed by Silvo's old crew (including Gunter– Jaleel White), led by Captain Brutus.
Brutus is an homage to the LucasArts video game Monkey Island according to creator Jon Watts.
They are locked in the brig where they meet the mysterious “Jedi” Jod Na Nawood (Captain Silvo). He wants to help them and even appears in a cloak, doing the whole pull back the hood reveal like Obi-Wan Kenobi.
He uses The Force to get the key to the cell and they escape. Wim thinks he is a Jedi and triumphant music plays as Jod asks Wim if he can keep a secret.
