Skeleton Crew Episode 1 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
It begins with the Star Wars text explaining the setting of the story.
Since the fall of the EMPIRE, the NEW REPUBLIC has maintained order. And yet, remote hyperspace routes are increasingly plagued by piracy. These PIRATES boldly brand their armored hulls as a sign to all ships. Surrender or die….
As the camera pans down from the stars, there is debris is floating through the air. A damaged freighter appears with its alarm sounds blaring. It is attacked by a pirate ship.
Captain Silvo (Jude Law) and his men are after credits he thinks are in the vault of the ship. When they don't find any, Brutus (Fred Tatasciore) leads a mutiny, attacking Silvo. Brutus is now the Captain of this group of pirates.
Wim is playing with his toys- a Jedi fighting a Sith. His mom is dead and his dad isn't around a lot.
One of his neighbors is named Mrs. Ikk. She is an Ithorian.
Wim is playing with a faux lightsaber, having a battle with Neel while they wait for the school tram. The other kids look at them like they're crazy.
The tram driver is a RX-Series Pilot Droid.
Wim is looking at Jedi stories on his storypad when Fern drives by on her hoverbike.
He gets caught drawing characters on his desk (Star Wars version of an etch-a-sketch) by Undersecretary Fara.
She is there to talk to them about the Career Assessment Test– the test that will set them on a path to elevate their home planet of At Attin and contribute to the “Great Work” of the Republic.
Wim wants to be a Jedi when he grows up.
After school, Neel goes home to his parents and siblings, the twins Jorko, Jobo, and the baby Tuloo. Wim meanwhile goes home to an empty house.
Fern needs a new power converter to get her hoverbike working. KB tells her to stop racing jerks. Fern goes home, to the biggest house on the block. Her mom is the Undersecretary Fara.
Wim asks his dad to read him a bedtime story like his mom used to. Dad tells him he is too old for that. Staring up at his ceiling you can see different Star Wars ships:
One of the Jedi stories he is reading looks a little like Ezra Bridger facing off against a beast.
Wim misses the tram to school and tries to take a hoverbike. He crashes it and discovers something hidden in the ground. He thinks it is a Jedi Temple.
The scene feels very much inspired by Return of the Jedi.
He is in trouble at school for being late. His dad doesn't care about the temple. But Fern overhears.
After school, Wim recruits Neel to help him investigate the temple. They find KB and Fern there too.
Call signs: Jedi One and Jedi Two
She tells them “No Boys Allowed” it's like The Little Rascals but in reverse.
They make a deal to open the hatch together. Inside the “temple” they find a dead droid (SM-33).
When the hatch closes they start looking for a way out. It's not a temple, it's actually a ship. Don't touch anything but Wim does and the Onyx Cinder comes to life.
SM-33 (Nick Frost) is not dead. The Pirate Droid is alive and the ship takes off, making the jump to hyperspace.
