Deadpool and Wolverine is one wild forking ride that's insane, amazing, sexy, and funny as hell in all the best ways. As with any Marvel movie there are loads of Marvel easter eggs, callbacks, and cameos including several (so many!?!) that definitely surprised audiences. Not only that, since this is Deadpool, those easter eggs and callbacks extend well past the MCU. From the Fox Universe and Stan Lee to The Greatest Showman and Ryan's wife Blake Lively, here are all the Deadpool and Wolverine easter eggs, cameos, and callbacks you may have missed.
Spoilers ahead if you have not seen Deadpool and Wolverine.
Deadpool and Wolverine Easter Eggs & Cameos
Deadpool can now be seen in the opening scroll of the Marvel Studios Logo. You can see him right after Captain America throws the shield and in the letter M. He can also be heard humming along as the fanfare plays.
He visits Logan's Grave and reminds the audience that Wolverine has regenerative healing powers and that he can't possibly be dead because that's not how those powers work. Deadpool calls Wolverine Hugh.
When the TVA shows up, Deadpool fights them all using Wolverine's body parts to NSYNC's Bye Bye Bye. And yes he does the iconic dance number too.
March 14, 2018- Deadpool visits Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) in Earth 616 looking to join the Avengers.
Inside Happy's office:
- Iron Man Helmet
- a deconstructed Captain America Shield – prototype
- Coulson's Captain America Trading Cards
- Swinging Sticks from Iron Man 2
- Pepper's Forbes Magazine
- Proof Tony Stark has a Heart
- Picture of Tony with Peter Parker, although Peter is hidden.
- 1954 Stark Expo Poster
He mentions that he was the leader of the X-Force but that they all died (Deadpool 2). Wade says they died by gravity technically but really it's because they didn't test well… especially Cable.
Wade goes back to Earth-10005 (the designation for the Fox Marvel Universe). He works at Drivemax with his friend Peter (Rob Delaney). Peter keeps the Deadpool suit in his locker just in case Wade needs it.
On the locker door: sticker for Notts County FC the team that beat Wrexham and one that says “Please Bee Kind.”
At Wade's surprise birthday party, there are loads of familiar faces (some who died in the last movie): Shatterstar, Colossus, Dopinder, Blind Al, Vanessa, Yukio, Buck, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
Do you want to build a snowman? – In Deadpool 2, he sings Olaf's song in the bar scene when he is depressed.
During the apartment scene, the song Angel can be heard playing in the background. This was the opening song for Deadpool.
In Deadpool 2, Wade tells Buck (Randal Reeder) no more speaking lines for you. Here, he tries to speak and Wade cuts him off. He eventually improvs a bit but is called out.
They take shots of Aviation Gin during the party.
The TVA takes Wade to meet Mr. Paradox who shows Wade the Sacred Timeline. The Avengers' Theme can be heard playing.
Deadpool's Katanas have the initials RS and DR– for Rose and Dorothy from the Golden Girls.
After suiting up, he appears on the elevator at level 943. This could be a reference to the comic Cable & Deadpool #43 where Cable is dead and Deadpool goes to stop Wolverine from doing something crazy at a HYDRA base.
Deadpool grabs the camera and says “Suck it Fox, I'm going to Disneyland!”
He gets his new suit complete with Adamantium Katanas.
Wade's universe is dying because its ANCHOR BEING is dead aka Wolverine. Footage from the movie Logan is then played.
You're going to Old Yeller my universe?
Keep my country's name out of your f*cking mouth– referencing Will Smith and the infamous Oscar slap.
Wolverine Variants:
- Comic accurate Wolverine (short)
- Old Man Logan
- Patch – the Wolverine who went undercover in Madripoor
- HENRY CAVILL is the Wolverine working on the motorcycle aka Cavillerine! Deadpool tells him Marvel will treat him better than DC.
- Apocalypse Wolverine (missing a hand thanks to Cyclops)
- Brown suit Wolverine (his original comic suit) who is fighting The Hulk.
- Uncanny X-Men Wolverine that shows him crucified on a giant X.
In the Hulk scene, Deadpool quoting Loki in the first Avengers says I'm Marvel Jesus you… before getting slapped.
Wade says On Your Left as he sits down next to Wolverine at the bar. He makes a joke that this Wolverine will even do musicals (Hugh Jackman is known for musicals).
In The Void
- Secret Wars comic book on the left of the screen, right after they wake up in the Void. The specific comic is #5 of Hickman's 2015 run which features God-Doom and The Beyonder on the cover and explores the creation of Battleworld.
- On top of the comic book is the broken bottle of radiation poison from The Incredible Hulk.
- 20th Century Fox Logo is broken.
- Leviathan skeleton from Avengers.
- Thor's Winged Helmet
- Old Captain America Shield from his USO days
- Avengers Helicarrier
- Golden Gate Bridge from X-Men The Last Stand
- CN Tower
- Red Skull's Car from Captain America The First Avenger
- Moon Knight's Ice Cream Truck
They meet Chris Evans who has returned not as Nomad or Captain America but as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch. FLAME ON!
The three fight with Sabertooth, Toad, Pyro, Blob, and others. Wolverine decapitates Sabertooth. Deadpool holds up his head and quotes Mad Max. This is after making a reference that things seem like Mad Max around here but that would be IP infringement. Pyro takes out Johnny Storm by sucking in his flame.
As they drive through the desert you can see plenty of pyramids likely a nod to Moon Knight.
Alioth (from Loki Season 1 Episode 5) appears a few times. But is first talked about by Johnny when he explains the Void to Deadpool and Wolverine. He mentions that there are survivors in the Borderlands.
Giant-Man's body serves as the headquarters for Cassandra, Charles Xavier's twin sister. Oh look Paul Rudd finally aged.
Cassandra's forces include the Juggernaut of the day, Lady Deathstrike, and Azazel. She appears to them rolling out on Charles' wheel chair.
Deadpool threatens her with Wolverine doing the second act of The Music Man without warming up- Hugh Jackman stars in The Music Man.
The Anarchy Avengers logo is on the flag.
Deadpool and Wolverine escape Alioth by using the leg of the Hulkbuster armor.
When Wolverine and Deadpool land after escaping Alioth, Deadpool tells him to get his mind out of his ass or he's telling Blake. Blake Lively is Ryan Reynolds' wife for anyone living under a rock.
They go inside a diner. It looks like Joe's Pizza from Spider-Man 2.
Deadpool tells Logan about X-23 and how he died to save her.
Dogpool, also called Mary Puppins, appears with NicePool– played by Ryan Reynolds. Nice Pool has long hair, unblemished skin and is generally the opposite of Wade Wilson. He also has the gold desert eagle guns and tells them about the Deadpool Corps.
He also says normally Wolverine is shirtless but he's let himself go since the divorce. In real life, Hugh and his wife Deborah recently divorced.
As they drive away in the minivan, the Q Ships from Avengers Infinity War can be seen.
Deadpool practices his Spider-Man thwip.
Wolverine and Deadpool fight in the car. When the radio first comes on it's a snippet of The Greatest Show and A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman, a musical starring Hugh Jackman. The rest of the fight though is to You're the One That I Want from Grease.
They are rescued from each other by an unseen person and taken to a hideout where they meet Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Blade (Wesley Snipes), and Gambit (Channing Tatum). X-23 (Dafne Keen) is the one who pulled them from the car.
Inside the hideout on the ceiling is the statue of the Scarlet Witch from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
LOTS of jokes about the Gambit movie and how bad his accent is.
There used to be others on their team: The Punisher, Quicksilver, and Daredevil. Deadpool says I'm sorry (about Daredevil) and Elektra replies “not me.”
Inside their hideout is the tooth bed frame from Thor Ragnarok.
Logan mentions Jean, Scott, Storm, and Beast when he is talking to X-23.
They make a plan to attack Cassandra. On the way back to her camp, they pass Asgard's castle and The Milano from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Elektra uses Punisher's Banner Canon. Blade says there is only one Blade and there will only ever be one Blade. This is a jab at the fact that the MCU Blade movie is still not being made yet!
Blade also says “Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice skate uphill.”
X-23 puts on her pink and blue glasses.
Inside Scott's skull, Cassandra is sitting on the center piece of Odin's Throne.
Cassandra uses a Sling Ring she took off a dead Sorcerer's body to get Deadpool and Wolverine back to their timeline. Deadpool says Strange and calls the portal a Marvel Sparkle Circle.
They crash land back at Drivemax and Deadpool tells the kids that Fox fired Wolverine but Disney brought him back and is going to make him do this until he is 90.
Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) is told there is an unauthorized Time Ripper being powered up on Earth-10005.
Deadpool and Wolverine are soon facing the Deadpool Corps and they are not friendly. Nicepool and Dogpool find them first. Deadpool breaks the 4th wall and references Reynolds' movie Van Wilder. Nicepool says he can do that too and just says The Proposal.
The Liefield Just Feet shoe store is a nod to Deadpool creator Rob Liefield and his inability to draw feet.
Deadpool Corps Includes:
- Headpool –The zombie one (Nathan Fillion)
- Ladypool (Blake Lively)
- Deadpool Kid (Matthew McConaughey)– the western one
- The Greatest Showman Pool (Dressed as PT Barnum from the Greatest Showman)
- Samurai Deadpool
- Knightpool
- Babypool – played by Ryan and Blake's youngest child Olin Reynolds.
- Kidpool – played by Ryan and Blake's daughter Inez Reynolds.
- Deadpool 2099
- Golden Age Deadpool (the one with the gas mask)
Deadpool tells them to stop doing the multiverse thing. The Wizard of Oz did it the best.
Wolverine puts on the cowl to fight the Deadpool Corps.
Stan Lee Steamer advertisement on the side of the bus.
As the universe begins to unravel the same visuals from Loki are seen- the spaghetti.
After they save the universe, they go to eat Shawarma. Did you know the Avengers discovered shawarma?
Deadpool Post Credit Scene
In Memoriam for the Fox Marvel Universe: behind-the-scenes clips of the various Fox marvel movies are shown while Time of Your Life by Green Day plays.
The actual Deadpool post credit scene is Deadpool at the TVA proving he didn't get Johnny killed. He shows a video of Johnny Storm saying all those things about Cassandra.
On the bottom left, we can see Gambit survived the fight against Cassandra's forces and made it back to safety.
