Mae searches for a way to kill Kalnecca while the Jedi meet to decide how to stop her. Osha doesn't want any part of this but she is convinced to go along. No one is prepared for what is waiting for them on Khofar. Let's get into this The Acolyte Episode 4 Easter Eggs, breakdown, and recap.
The Acolyte Episode 4 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
On Khofar, Kalnecca seems to be living a solitary life in the forest. Inside his ship, is the same symbol the Witches on Brendok had on their foreheads.
Back on Coruscant, Osha watches as Jecki and other Padawans train with Master Lakshay. She is coming to say goodbye to Jecki because “Mae is the Jedi's problem now.”
One of the padawans looks like Bayrn, the baby that was saved by the Bad Batch on Tantiss.
Mae and Qimir have arrived on Khofar. He tells her he is risking his life to help her, not her master. He also warns her that Osha being alive means nothing because she cannot back out of the deal she made with the master.
The Jedi are meeting to discuss what to do about Mae. Present in the meeting are Holden, Vanestra, Lakshay, and Ki-Adi-Mundi.
If that last one looks familiar it's because Ki-Adi-Mundi has been around for a long time. He first appear was in Episode I The Phantom Menace. Ki-Adi-Mundi is a member of the Jedi High Council during the High Republic Era and also served on it during the last decades of the Galactic Republic. Mundi also was a Jedi General of the Grand Army of the Republic.
Mae has incredible fighting skills. They think she may have been trained by a Splinter Order. A Splinter Order is run by rogue Jedi who turned to the dark side of the Force.
Vanestra doesn't want to tell the High Council about the situation with Mae because they would tell the Senate which would make everyone start to be fearful. She wants to send Holden to get Kalnecca and take out Mae.
Sol volunteers instead. After some arguing, Vanestra agrees to let him go. She thinks Mae is a small part of the master's plan to tip the scales into darkness.
Qimir asks Mae how she plans to kill a Jedi without a weapon.
He also reveals he didn't make a deal with the master, he just owes him. The master collects people that will benefit him. He tells her that Osha is very fond of Sol.
Sol talks Osha into going with him to find Mae.
In order to find Kalnecca in the forests of Khofar, the Jedi will need help from a tracker. Bazil, a Tynnan, will help the Jedi.
Tynnan is a sentient rodent-like species from Legends that have since crossed over into Canon. A rodent that acts like a detective named Bazil… I can't be the only one thinking about The Great Mouse Detective right?
Osha knows she won't be able to hurt Mae. She tells Yord that he needs to do it if things go poorly. He tells her she needs to face Mae but also herself and her feelings. Essentially, Osha needs to stop running from the past.
Bazil warns them something is wrong. Creatures are stuck all over the trees they are walking by. Osha accidentally wakes one up and it attacks. They are Umbramoth, which look like moths from hell. Sol kills it and they hurry to get out of that part of the forest.
We’re not defined by what we lose. We are defined by what we survive– Jecki to Osha.
Mae and Qimir take a break as they look for Kalnecca. Killing a Jedi without a weapon is something her master calls The Final Lesson. She thinks it's impossible but if she doesn’t do it he will kill her.
Qimir continues to scout ahead. Mae starts screaming and he runs back, only to be caught in her trap. Mae tells him Osha being alive changes everything and that her loyalty is to Osha not his master. She’s going to surrender to Kalnecca and tell the Jedi what she knows.
Something is still fishy about what happened on Brendok. Sol tells Osha once they get Mae to the ship he will explain everything.
Mae finds Kalnecca's ship. Bazil sees her and alerts the others.
Inside the ship, Kalnecca is already dead. Killed by a lightsaber wound. Her master has been here.
The Jedi arrive and tell Mae to come out. Behind Osha a strange figure appears- it’s Mae's master.
He activates his red lightsaber. The Jedi prepare for his attack. Sol tells Osha to run but the master throws her aside easily and repels the others with The Force.
