The Acolyte Episode 1 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
On Ueda, Mae walks into town. She is looking for Jedi Master Indara.
Mae has unfinished business with Indara. She walks into the cantina to find Indara at a table with a group. When Indara refuses to attack her, Mae claims that the Jedi DO attack the unarmed. So she fights Indara's friends to get her to engage in combat.
Mae has serious skills. Indara wants to know who trained her. Indara defeats her easily and recognizes the mark on Mae's forehead. But when the barkeep is in danger, Indara saves him, opening herself up to a sneak attack from Mae. Indara is dead but Mae leaves the barkeep and his child alive.
Osha awakens on a ship. Her droid PIP is beeping at her. Adorable, need him asap. There is also a Gonky droid. (Forever in our hearts Bad Batch)
Her friend Fillik wants to know why Osha bailed on hanging out with them at Nar Shaddaa.
Nar Shaddaa aka Smuggler's Moon, is the moon of the planet Nal Hutta, homeworld of the Hutts. It was first mentioned in the 2014 mobile game Star Wars: Commander.
She is working on a Neimoidian ship for the Trade Federation. She is a meknek aka a repair person who is more flexible than a droid. While she is on the outside of the ship repairing the shield generator, a fire starts. She has a flashback of screaming and flames.
Yord Fandar Knight of the Jedi Order and his padawan Tasi Lowa arrive on the ship. They are looking for a former Jedi- Osha Aniseya. She left The Order 6 years ago.
It's revealed she was let into The Order at 8 years old despite being in mourning for her entire village (including her mothers) who were killed. Master Sol was the Jedi who saved her.
They believe she is the one who killed Indara. Although she denies it, the barkeep identifies her as the killer.
She is taken to the prison transport by Droid Wardens. She will stand trial on Coruscant.
On Coruscant, Master Sol is training younglings. He asks them what they see when they focus on The Force. One child sees it as water, another as fire.
Master Vernestra Roh tells him about Osha being the killer. He doesn’t believe it. After all it was he and Indara who saved her from the fire on Brendok. She wants justice and she wants it carried out quickly. They don't want to alert anyone of trouble amongst the Jedi.
Vernestra first appeared in The High Republic: Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule.
Inside the prison transport, Osha meets the other criminals. One of them is suffering from a Dybbuk, a parasite that is being used to subdue him. In Jewish folklore, a Dybbuk is a malevolent spirit that enters and possesses the body of a living person until exorcized.
They are planning to escape and want to know if she's in. She's not, so they leave her on the crashing ship, taking the only escape pods.
She tries to use The Force to get PIP closer to her but it doesn't work. However, he eventually slides close enough to her that she can use him to get out of the cell.
The ship crash lands on a planet called Carlac. Carlac is located in the Outer Rim. During the Clone Wars the Death Watch burned a town there to the ground. It was first seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode “A Friend in Need” but it has also been mentioned in the canon audio drama The High Republic: Tempest Runner.
Jecki, Sol's Padawan, comes to get him. He is looking at an old holo of Osha. The prisoners were recaptured and are blaming Osha for their escape. The prisoner with the parasite, tells the Jedi they left Osha to die.
Sol wants to go to Carlac to find Osha, she knows she is alive despite Probe Droids not finding anything. This is Jecki's first mission.
Osha is alive and she isn't alone. A figure is in the distance. She follows her and realizes it's her sister Mae (appearing as a young girl). She is having a vision, she is back on Brendok. A woman calls her name and fire is everywhere. She chases after young Mae whose eyes go black. Osha returns to the present, waking up again on the crashed ship.
Jecki asks Sol how well he knows Osha. He tells her that Osha had a twin, Mae, who started the fire that killed everyone before she also died. But maybe she didn't.
Osha sees their ship and runs into a cave. Yord and the others follow. Sol saves her from falling from a cliff and she tells him Mae is alive.
A strange and menacing voice is heard talking to Mae. He tells her the Jedi live in a dream. And that an Acolyte kills the dream.
Mae walks towards him. As with any true member of the Dark Side, he has a red lightsaber.
