X-Men 97 Episode 10 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
It starts in the past. Magneto and Charles are in a bar, discussing how they care about others and that is why they are doing what they are doing at the hospital. Charles thinks mutants could help people, but Magneto doesn't believe the humans would want it.
In the present, Magneto is snapped out of the memory by hearing Rogue yelling his name. Charles is there, they are inside Magneto's mind.
Restore Earth's power or I will hijack your mind and force you to do so. Magneto warns that this could hurt them both. He takes over his mind and sends out another massive magnetic pulse.
Silver Samurai, Iron Man, Captain America, Daredevil, and Doctor Strange feel it. Bastion has captured Morph, Beast, Storm, and Forge. Jean Grey is sinking in the water. All the sentinels are back online. Bastion wants to skip ahead to the last phase of Operation Zero Tolerance.
The human sentinels attack: President Kelly and Captain America and Iron Man. They go to Wakanda to attack Black Panther. Daredevil, Cloak and Dagger, Omega Red, and Psylocke are also attacked as Bastion says Tolerance is Extinction.
Bastion taunts Cable for not being able to stop him. Cable is still under Mr. Sinister's control.
Cable says he has tried to stop Bastion 200 times. Bastion tells him he is going to die just like Madelyne and Jean. As human sentinels arrive to blast him, Jean rises from the water- I Am Phoenix. Using her abilities, she rebuilds the Mutant Inhibitor Collar, captures Bastion, and puts it on him.
All the sentinels are deactivated. The Phoenix grabs Sinister, removing all the mutant DNA he stole to stay young. The Phoenix burns away the obsolete. Sinister runs away looking old and haggard.
Bastion isn't finished yet. He rips off Cable's arm and uses it to transform himself: X-Force comic version. He plans to offer humankind extinction by hurling Asteroid M into the planet.
Back on Asteroid M: Magneto and Charles are both knocked out. Inside his mind, Magneto has forgotten who he is. Xavier wants to help guide him back before the elements consume them (hopefully preventing Onslaught).
Cyclops tells the unconscious Wolverine not to break Jean's heart. He needs to heal. Jean reaches out to Scott to tell him what has happened with Cable and Bastion. Professor X also calls out to them, saying he needs to fix Magneto's mind in order to save the world. She psychically tells everyone Bastion is coming for them.
As they watch Bastion approach, Rogue tells them the cards may be bad but they are always in the X-Men's favor. Bastion goes straight for the gravity core. Rogue attacks saying “his name was Gambit, remember it!”
Roberto saves Rogue and tells Bastion his name is Sunspot. He finally is accepting his mutant powers!
As the world leaders meet to discuss what to do about the threat, King T'Chaka is there offering his advice, not to do something hasty. Captain America agrees with T'Chaka. Kelly still decides to go ahead with the Magneto Protocol.
Peter Parker is seen with Mary Jane.
The Magneto Protocols, in the comics, was a network of satellites designed to work against his powers, preventing him from using them while in Earth's atmosphere.
They are all doing their best to stop Bastion, but he is too powerful. Beast, Storm, Morph, and Jean arrive in a Sentinel- a Trojan Horse. Cyclops tries to reason with Bastion but The Magneto Protocols, in this world, involve missiles being launched at Asteroid M.
They hit, the gravity core is destroyed. Bastion gets sucked in but Jean protects the X-Men. Morph transforms into Mr. Fantastic. In order to save the Earth, the X-Men will sacrifice themselves. Jean and Scott appear to Cable, to say goodbye. A dramatic version of the X-Men 97 theme is playing.
Magneto awakes just in time- Magneto Lives. But Asteroid M disappears, while Jubilee, Sunspot, and Forge watch from the ground.
It's been 6 months… there is still no sign of the X-Men. On the TV, the reporter says Graydon Creed, the son of Sabertooth and Mystique, is gaining popularity in the polls.
Forge has a board on the wall with mutant photos including the Scarlet Witch (currently off world). Bishop shows up and says it's not where the X-Men are but when. Someone or something pulled them through time, so now they need to go rescue the X-Men.
Rogue, Nightcrawler, Beast, Xavier, and Magneto wake up in Egypt in 3000 BC. They rescue En Sabah Nur, the future Apocalypse.
Cyclops and Jean are in the future in 3960 AD. They are surrounded by Mother Askani and her people. She is an alternate version of Rachel Summers, Cyclops and Jean Grey's daughter.
To be continued…
