Secret Invasion Episode 2 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
It's 1995 and a Young Nick Fury is talking to Carol Danvers. Another flashback and Monica Rambeau is shown telling Fury the Skrulls need their own home.
1997- Brixton London. Varra introduces Nick to a young Gravik. HIs parents had been killed by the Kree. Talos addresses the other Skrulls gathered, telling them to trust Fury as he does. Fury believes humans and Skrulls can help each other. He also tells them the world is facing a big threat (the unnamed threat would be Thanos) and he could use their help. Fury promises that while they work to help keep his home safe, he and Carol will find them a new one.
In the comics, Varra was a member of The Knights of the Infinite, a group of Skrull/Kree hybrids. Their purpose was to make heroes out of the warring factions.
Present Day– Fury is taken into a van by Talos in disguise to get him away from the aftermath of the explosion. On the train back to Warsaw, Talos tells Fury about when Skrullos fell. He also reveals there are a million skrulls on Earth. Anyone that isn’t in Emperor Drogge’s colony answered his call for them to come to the planet.
Skrullos is the ancient homeworld of the Skrulls.
Emperor Drogge isn't mentioned exactly in the comics but it could be a reference to Dro'ge Fenu Edu. He was the Head Priest of Sciences in the Skrull Imperial Court and is responsible for experiments that created Super-Skrulls.
In London, Maria Hill's coffin is brought out of a plane. Fury is there along with Elizabeth, Hill's mother. Fury admits Maria was killed because someone was trying to hurt Fury.
New stations are running the story on the attack, trying to decide who is actually to blame. UK Prime Minister Pamela Lawton (Anna Madeley) is shown as well as NATO Secretary General Sergio Caspani (Giampiero Judica). The newscaster is Chris Stearns– (Christopher McDonald).
G’Iah joins Garvik in the car to go to the Skrull Council Meeting. Inside there is the UK Prime Minister, NATO Secretary General, the newscaster, Jack Hyuk-Bin (Christopher Goh), and Shirley Sagar (Seeta Indrani).
They disagree on how to handle the Skrull issue. Some want to punish Gravik but gradually relent to his point of view. Gravik has a plan for the Skrulls to take over Earth and he isn't worried about the Avengers. The Prime Minister wants to promote Gravik to Skrull General. The only one who refuses is Shirley. She warns them that the Skrulls were too willing to wage war last time and that's how they ended up as refugees and homeless. Gravik dismisses her.
Shirley calls Talos to tell him the news. Talos wants to arrange a public meeting with Gravik.
Back at the New Skrullos, everyone is cheering what Gravik did. G’iah follows Gravik into the back where she sees Dr. Rosa Dalton working on some genetic experiment. Radon mentions the harvest they were after was missing. She tells him DNA samples are limited.
Rhodey is representing President Ritson at the Security Council Meeting in London. They want to pin the attack on the US and question why Fury and Hill were in Moscow. Rhodey gets annoyed and wants to put on the War Machine Suit.
Fury contacts Rhodey, asking him to meet at Burner's Tavern. Rhodey says he learned about the shape-shifting Skrulls 15 years ago at a top secret presentation about the Skrulls. He doesn't believe an invasion is possible and wants to call in their friends aka the Avengers. Fury says no because that will only lead them to fighting their duplicates. Which is exactly what happens in the comic run of Secret Invasion.
This is a real tavern in London called Berners Tavern in Fitzrovia.
Fury tells Rhodey his security detail is composed of Skrull spies. This isn't HYDRA.
During their conversation about men like them in the world, Fury mentions Alexander Pierce from Captain America The Winter Soldier.
Rhodey fires Nick Fury.
Sonya is interrogating the Skrull Brogan who was captured after the attack on the square.
Back at Skrullos, G’iah sneaks onto the computer to look at Dr. Dalton’s files. The genetic codes shown are for Cull Obsidian (part of Thanos' Black Order, last seen in Avengers Endgame), a Frost Beast (located on Jotunheim), Groot, and Extremis (located on Terra- first shown in Iron Man 3 and later in Shang-Chi)
Sonya is still interrogating Brogan, getting the skrull to talk. She wants info on Gravik. Brogan says he’s building a machine, something that will make the Skrulls stronger. This is why they need the DNA from the other creatures (aka the harvest mentioned earlier int he episode.). Tells her some married couple is doing the science- the Daltons. Sonya seems to know the name.
Gravik arrives at the butcher’s shop but Sonya escapes, calling the whole thing very Dostoyevsky. Dostoyevsky is a famous Russian novelist. Gravik has Pagon kill Brogan. G'iah is upset by this.
Nick Fury goes out to a bunker, gets into a car and drives out to a home of a Skrull. It's Nick Fury's wife.
