Two episodes of The Bad Batch dropped today. Both dive deeper into what happened to the Clones after the Empire began to phase them out. Several familiar faces show up in this episode including everyone's favorite Clone Captain. It's a race to try and save the Clones from destruction so let's get into “The Clone Conspiracy” with this Bad Batch Season 2 episode 7 easter eggs and breakdown.
Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 7 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
Clones are hanging out in a Cantina on Coruscant. There is a long-faced smelter droid. We recently saw another one of these droids, 8D8 in the Book of Boba Fett.
Two Clones, Slip and Cade are talking about what happened on Kamino. Cade tells Slip he has given Rampart an ultimatum, come clean about the incident or Cade will go to the authorities. A sniper takes out Cade outside the Cantina. Slip escapes on a speeder.
Inside the Senate, they are meeting to discuss the Defense Recruitment Bill, that was drafted by Senator Riduli, Senator Shu Mai, and Senator Pamlo. Senator Shu Mai, first seen in Attack of the Clones, is the leader of the commerce guild. Senator Pamlo was first introduced in Rogue One.
Senator Bail Organa asks what the Emperor thinks about the bill since he is absent. Mas Amedda speaks for Palpatine saying he wants the Senators to come to an agreement.
The Defense Recruitment Bill would mean the Empire would recruit (and force) citizens to join up as soldiers versus having them made like the Clones.
Senator Riyo Chuchi speaks out against the bill and defends the Clones, stating they should have rights and that their needs should be met before talks of throwing them away occur. Rampart claims to have a plan for the Clones but Chuchi doesn't believe him. The bill is tabled again.
Mas Amedda warns Rampart that the Emperor wants this bill to pass and he needs to make sure it happens.
Chuchi goes to the Cantina from earlier to speak with the Clones. She wants to help them. Slip goes to speak with her and tells her what happened on Kamino. He refuses to testify in front of the Senate as he fears for his life.
Slip contacts someone asking for help to get off Coruscant.
At the First Battle Memorial, Chuchi's aide tells her she has a secure communication. R2-C4 is there to escort her to Senator Bail Organa. In Star Wars Resistance, R2-C4 was part of Kazuda Xiono's squadron. In this episode he is missing the yellow paint, but it is clearly the same droid (plus Organa calls him by the same name).
In his office, Rampart tells a Bounty Hunter to kill Slip and Chuchi if she gets in the way.
Chuchi finds Slip first. He tells her where to find the information about Kamino before the Bounty Hunter shoots him. Chuchi is saved by Captain Rex (the person Slip called for help). The bounty hunter is a clone with no identifying numbers. He uses an electric cyanide tooth to off himself before Rex can get any info. This is a callback to The Mandalorian Season 2 episode “The Heiress” where it happens on the Gozanti cruiser.
The place Rex took the bounty hunter Clone is the Martez Family Garage. The Martez sisters (from Season 7 of The Clone Wars) first told Rex about The Bad Batch in Season 1 Episode 6.
Episodes 1-8 of The Bad Batch Season 2 are now streaming on Disney+.
