The Book of Boba Fett Episode 1 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
The episode begins inside Jabba The Hutt's former palace which is now home to Boba Fett and Fennec Shand. Boba is seen inside a Bacta tank which helps to restore his body.
Boba is having flashbacks, the first is of Kamino, the home planet of the Clones. Then there is a scene showing a young Boba Fett picking up his father's helmet after Jango Fett was killed in Attack of the Clones.
We also get a look at what happened in the Sarlacc pit. Boba used a fallen Stormtrooper's air tube located inside the suit to power his flame thrower and escape the Sarlacc. That is how he made it out of the pit. However, he is exhausted and soon collapses.
The Jawas show up and take Boba's armor, which explains how Cobb Vanth got it from them in The Mandalorian.
Tusken Raiders save Boba Fett from the harsh desert but take him prisoner.
There is another prisoner, a Rodian alien. Both he and Boba are being guarded by a massiff, the dog-like creature of the Tusken Raiders. Boba subdues the massiff and uses its sharp teeth to cut the ropes around his wrists. After sparing a Tusken child, he is pursued by the Tuskens and one of them ends up fighting Boba. Boba loses.
The Rodian is voiced by the Sam Witwer who Star Wars fans know as amongst other things as the voice of Darth Maul.
Fennec Shand wakes Boba from his sleep in the Bacta tank. She tells him people have come to pay their respects.
The first to speak is Aqualish Don. Neither Boba nor Fennec speak his language and Boba remarks they really need a Protocol Droid. In Return of the Jedi, Jabba uses C3-PO as his translator.
8D8 is the droid introducing each guest. This is a 8D-series smelter droid who first appeared in Return of the Jedi. It has also been seen in the Star Wars Battlefront games as part of the DLC.
This droid is voiced by Matt Berry. His friend and regular collaborator Richard Ayoade provided the voice for Q9-0 aka Zero in The Mandalorian.
Next is Dokk Strassi, a former employer of Boba Fett. Strassi is a Trandoshan bounty hunter (like Bossk). He refers to Fett as the Daimyo which is Japanese for great lord.
Fett thanks Strassi for welcoming him to Mos Espa, which is the name of the port city in Tatooine where Fett's palace is located. Strassi gives Boba a Wookiee pelt.
The Wookiee pelt is also a nod to The Clone Wars Season 3 “Wookiee Hunt” which revealed Boba Fett's arm braid was Wookiee scalps.
Mok Shaiz who is the mayor of Mos Espa's majordomo, does not bring a tribute to Boba Fett and instead demands tribute be paid by Fett. Shand tells him that getting to leave alive is all the tribute he will get.
Two Gamorreans, the former guards of Jabba and Bib Fortuna, are presented as tribute. Boba decides to spare them if they will be loyal to him.
Fett, Shand, and the Gamorreans walk the streets of Mos Espa. Fett refuses to be carried around or do things the way the Hutts did despite Fennec telling him it would make things easier. The dog robots from Boston Dynamics are seen during their walk.
They go to the cantina where Max Rebo and Figrin D'an are playing.
RX-24 was also seen in the cantina.
They meet with Garsa Fwip, the owner of The Sanctuary, aka the cantina.
When they leave they are attacked by assassins. Fennec chases two of them down and captures one. Boba disintegrates another, a subtle nod to Vader's ‘no disintegrations line' from The Empire Strikes Back.
Meanwhile Boba goes back into the Bacta tank. He has flashback again to his time with the Tusken Raiders. The Tusken child unties him and the Rodian and takes them into the desert to dig for water.
They come across a ranch that is being raided by a speeder bike gang. This is seemingly a nod to the infamous scene in A New Hope at the Skywalker homestead when Luke's family was killed.
Boba Fett mentions the town Anchorhead. In A New Hope, Luke Skywalker offered to take Obi-Wan Kenobi to the town.
The Rodian uncovers and awakens a massive sand creature. It attacks all of them, killing the Rodian. Boba Fett saves the Tusken child by choking out the sand monster with his chains, much like how Leia kills Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi.
They return to the camp with its head. The leader of the Raiders offers Boba Fett a drink of water, a sign of acceptance and respect. This begins to explain why when he is first shown in The Mandalorian he is wearing their clothing and wielding their weapons.
Episode 1 of The Book of Boba Fett is now streaming on Disney+.

Boba killed the assassin with missiles, not disintegration. Remember, The Mandalorian disintegrated with special ammo from his rifle
