The Bad Batch Episode 16 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
The finale of season one of The Bad Batch starts with a shot of Rampart watching the destruction of Kamino.
Omega gets separated from the group as all the Kaminoan facilities crash into the water. Rampart is pleased and they make plans to rendezvous with the fleet.
When she awakens, AZI informs her the compartment is flooding. She also finds Crosshair stuck beneath a fallen beam.
Crosshair wakes up to find Omega helping him. She manages to free him from the beam. Wrecker and Tech get the door open, rescuing AZI, Omega, and Crosshair. The latter however still is standoffish with the rest of the group.
They regroup in their old barracks. And although the Empire removed most of their things, their mission tally board remains on the wall. This scene in their old room shows just how much things have changed since they were all together in here in episode 1.
After a harrowing escape through the underground tunnels and almost getting eaten alive by a sea creature, Clone Force 99 finds themselves back in Nala Se's secret lab. This is Hunter's first time here.
Tech fills Hunter in on what they learned last week, that they were all created in this lab. He also confirms that Omega is technically older than the rest of the group except maybe Echo.
Even after being left for dead, Crosshair still wants to serve the Empire.
Omega tells Crosshair she was alone in Nala Se's lab until they were created and that's why she was determined to find them again.
Using the medical capsules, they escape the lab and reach the surface thanks to AZI who navigates the debris field as they float to the surface. Omega's capsule becomes trapped and she slowly sinks. AZI uses his remaining power to get Omega free and send her to the surface while he sinks into the oblivion. This is a similar moment to when Baymax saves Hiro in Big Hero 6 as he is left to float in the portal.
Crosshair saves Omega's life. He says they are even now and does not leave Kamino with the rest of the group. He is waiting for the Empire to find him.
Nala Se is brought to an Imperial Facility in the mountains where she is greeted by a woman in a familiar uniform. This uniform is identical to the one Dr. Pershing wears in The Mandalorian. This directly connects to the Empire's new cloning plans hinted at throughout The Mandalorian as well as Palpatine's resurrection in The Rise of Skywalker.
The planet where this facility is located is not identified directly however it is possible it is the planet Wayland. This planet made it's first appearance in the novel Heir to the Empire. On Wayland, Mount Tantiss was used as a storehouse for all sorts of Sith relics and cloning materials.
Season One of The Bad Batch is now streaming on Disney+.
