Bob is struggling with this stay-at-home parent thing. I think all of us understand what he is going through, minus the disappearing, combusting baby thing. I'm so glad I didn't have to deal with that!
But what really stuck out to me is the normalcy of their family life. Sure they are superheroes but the kids are struggling with normal kid things while their parents worry about them and if they are doing the right thing. It's something we, as parents, go through almost daily. Way to hit home again Pixar.
As Edna says, done properly, parenting is a heroic act.
Debuting in front of Incredibles 2 is the new short Bao. Directed by Domee Shi, the first woman to direct a Pixar short film, it'll feature an empty-nesting Chinese mom who brings an adorable pork dumpling to life. The short will focus on the relationship between mothers and children. I have a feeling tissues will be needed.
