Meet the Clangers, new on Sprout! They are an adorable, unique little family who live in space. These creatures are loving, supportive, curious, and kind. Clangers enjoy problem solving, celebrating diversity, working together, and being curious. William Shatner, as the narrator, takes us along on their daily adventures. The Clangers is a refreshing, unique show that reminds me of the kid shows I grew up watching. Simple, not a lot of dialogue, with endearing characters and stories that speak to the audience not at them.
Say hello to the family! Granny, Major, Mother, Small, and Tiny Clanger live on a blue planet and speak to one another using their special sounds. In the words of my kids they look like a cross between a mouse and an elephant and all around so cute! They live inside the planet itself and their adventures take place outside on the surface or underground. The Clangers aren't alone. We also meet the other creatures that inhabit the planet, like the Soup Dragons, Cloud that rains music notes, and the Iron Chicken.
One of our favorite episodes is about the Tiny's Music Tree composition. The kids and I agreed we wish we could grow music trees! This might be my Star Trek days talking, but I think William Shatner is an ideal narrator for the show. His voice is calm, clear, and since the show airs at night soothing for little ones to hear before bedtime.

The episode The Flying Froglets reminded me of my own grandmother. In the episode it is Granny Clangers birthday and they all try to come up with a great gift for her. Small wants his gift to be special and useful. In the end he creates a special invention for Granny and everyone loves it. It made Granny very happy. I know when it is my grandmother's birthday I always try my best to get her something she will love that will put a smile on her.
The kids and I really enjoy snuggling up on the couch to watch the Clangers. If you have little ones at home, be sure to watch The Clangers, they will love it!
Watch Clangers on Sprout every day at 7pm EST!
