I have heard about the paleo diet but honestly I did not know what it was or how it differed from any other diet. After doing some research I found it it is about eating higher proteins less carbs. On this diet you eat meat, eggs, veggies, fruits, nuts, and seeds. This is similar to the way we try to eat in my house except we follow the Maker's diet (eating based on biblical principles) where dairy and grains are not omitted. Oh, and please don't think I am some perfect green eater all the time. No, we eat packaged foods occasionally and you will find goldfish and cheerios in my house at all times. Nobody's perfect.
Whatever diet or nutrition plan you choose it needs to be a lifestyle not just a fad diet. “Dieting” sucks and more often then not you fail at it. Eventually you stop being to the letter and you fall off the wagon, gaining your weight back. When I decided to start eating healthier I made it a lifestyle change and allowed myself some wiggle room. If you don't let yourself off duty once in awhile you grow resentful and end up binging.
So, I finally ventured back onto the scale after months of boycotting. I knew I wasn't going to like the number and I was right. I have gained a few pounds back, not a lot but still noone likes to see the number go up. Countdown to my return to the gym is on, 2 weeks to go! My husband reminded me that since I have been out of the gym for awhile, the shock to my body when I go back will help me get back to where I was quickly. I guess there is always a silver lining to everything!
