I cannot believe this year is almost over. That's so cliche to say, but seriously I feel like each year speeds by faster then the last. Maybe it's because I'm a mom now, or that our schedule gets busier and busier eating up our time. I don't know but here I am reflecting on another year gone by. As a whole, 2011 was a pretty great year. We had some hangups, loss, hardtimes, but they were balanced out by the good times.
My husband celebrated his 1 year anniversary at his new company. That was definitely a blessing in disguise, since it was offered to him before he knew that his old company wasn't doing so well. God answered a prayer we didn't even know to pray!
My daughter turned 5 and finally got the My American Girl doll she has been wanting. They have everything you could imagine for these dolls so it's been quite the investment! She started kindergarten with no tears from her and a little a lot from me. It has been adjustment though since it is all day she no longer gets a nap during the week, which means meltdown begins by 6:15pm sharp. You could set your clock by it.
My son turned 2 and for the longest time he wouldn't say much. I yo-yo between being calm and rational (he's a boy, a second child) to freaking out (he's never going to talk!!). Once his sister went back to school and was no longer speaking for him, the words started flowing. He's still not anywhere close to how well she spoke at 2 but he's getting there. After all, he is a boy.
The woman who has stood by my side through everything, my Mema is now 6 months cancer free! She also is finally on the mends from shingles. If you are older, get the shingles vaccine. Trust me it's been awful to watch her struggle with the pain.
As for me, I finally broke down and joined a gym. My home workouts and friend's tiny apartment gym were no longer cutting it. I also reexamined what I thought was healthy food. Now my family and I are eating 100% natural and organic when we can afford it. The conspiracy that healthier food is more expensive has made me become a better couponer. I finally upped my twitter usage. Yes, I'm so late I know. Through twitter I found the Mamavation Sistahood. Through Mamavation I have met some great new ladies and lost more weight. Teachable Mommy was launched, and I have to say I'm pretty excited about it. The creativity I once had before having kids finally has a home. I have had the privileged of working with Ruckus Media Group, Tiny Prints, and The Backwoods Housewife. In 2012, I am excited about an opportunity to write a guest blog for Our Mom Spot and anything else that comes along.
My hopes for the coming year are to continue to grow as a woman, wife, and mother. There is still lots to learn and I'm looking forward to the journey.
